Freezing Nights and New Hope Resource Center

Picture
Our church is an overflow church for Freezing Nights, a program for adults experiencing homelessness in the Pierce County area. We provide this service on the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Tuesdays. Guests come to the church, spend the night, and eat breakfast before heading out for the day. You can help with welcoming, setting up, visiting with guests, staying overnight, cooking, serving breakfast, and various tasks, some that can even be done at home (like making breakfast casseroles or doing a few loads of laundry). Freezing Nights program runs November through March. If you would like to sign up to volunteer, donate food, or learn more about this ministry contact the church office.

Armory Dinners

Picture
Bi-monthly on the second Monday of the month, our volunteers prepare, serve, and feed whomever shows up at the Puyallup Armory for a hot dinner. If there is room, our folks sit down together to eat with the patrons. Fifi Petersen leads this ministry.

Community in Schools

Picture
Community in Schools is our ministry through which we support Firgrove Elementary and Ballou Jr. High school. Local schools with high needs. We do this through a School Supply Drive in Aug/Sept, collection of food for Thanksgiving baskets in November and purchasing Christmas presents for school kids and their families during December. Community in Schools is always looking for volunteers willing to go into the schools to mentor students or help them with reading or math (background check required).

Jamaa Letu Orphange

Picture
Jamaa Letu means "our family" in swahili. The Pacific Northwest Conference of the United Methodist Church built and sustains 2 orphanages, one for boys, the other for girls. Our church takes part by sponsoring Judy. We give in other ways as well, such as providing money for a kitchen remodel and materials for a recent graduate to teach English.

Circle of Friends NA

Our Narcotics Anonymous groups are attended by church members and community persons. NA is offered on Tuesdays and Fridays at 7pm.

If you are interested in any of these outreach opportunities, please contact the name listed or the office and they will help get you connected.

Reconciling Task Force

Picture
We have a Task Force Group that gathers when there is a task at hand to provide direction and work for our Reconciling Ministries. Our main goal is to get the word out that we are a Reconciling Church and to help promote the full inclusion of sexual minorities in the local church and whole denomination.

Food Bank Support

We support the Salvation Army Foodbank on Southhill as a local outreach. We encourage people to bring non-perishable items on the first Sunday of the month. Throughout the year, we support additional food drives.

Parish Nurse Ministry

This is a new ministry being led by our new Parish Nurse Norene Harvey. If you are a nurse or medical professional and would like to be involved, please contact the office and we'll connect you with Norene. Blood Pressure Checks, home visits, and aftercare calls are part of this vital ministry.
