The Montessori Philosophy at Light of the Hill UMC and Community of Care Preschool/Pre-K

Our main objectives are to:

• Provide playful, creative experiences which encourage interest in the world around us

• Offer opportunities to learn basic skills in a variety of areas (math, language, physical & life sciences, music, art, and more)

Montessori education includes:

• A classroom designed with the child in mind
• Developmentally appropriate learning and play materials and activities
• Sequential curriculum embracing differing learning styles and social skills, and
• Comprehensive training and internship for teachers

Each day, the kids are invited to choose from the carefully designed materials you see out in the classroom. Choice and variety help to create an exciting process of discovery which leads to self confidence, increased social skills, and a love of learning!
